Will music once again be affordable?
It looks like the record industry is about to be hit by a big one. Yesterday Radiohead released his new “In Rainbows” album under the new direct-to-public model. No record label, just get it out there, let the fans decide how much they pay, and let them enjoy.
Why do I love Radiohead? Because Oasis, Jamiroquai are copying them and also releasing their albums on a “pay-as-you-wish” model. Hell yes
But wait, it gets better; Madonna just dumped her record label this morning, and Nine Inch Nails dumped theirs on Monday. Hell yes.
I can’t believe this is happening, the Record industry has been a shit sucker of a turtle head for far too long. The model was old and lame and their motives were getting increasingly insane.
Hopefully we will see more of this over the coming weeks, or months. I’d happily buy CD’s and purchase music online of my favorite bands once the record companies are out of the picture.
For the Record, I love “In Rainbows”.
